  Recruitment Program Ideas
Posted by: Quebecshire - 09-13-2022, 03:18 PM - Forum: Executive Government - Replies (12)

Hello everyone in general and our recruiters specifically, (anyone can reply but I'm pinging the recruiters specifically)

This month in the recruitment program has been wildly successful. As it stands, we have 20 recruiters who have done an hour or more, and a number that have done amounts much higher, hailing from both The League and Concord. This has exceeded our expectations and you all have done an incredible amount of work.

NationStates as a site overall is struggling right now, our growth is the exception, not the rule. As such as want to maintain and build off that growth to avoid stagnation or decline. So this thread is to discuss ways to overall improve the recruitment program.

As you're aware, the top three recruiters, and the overall top recruiter gain certain perks and prizes. If you need a refresher, the guides are linked here (TL - Concord). I want to re-adjust this to be more fair and meet what we've accomplished. One idea I had to get the ball rolling on discussion was to make Legendary Cards be a prize for the top 1/3 of recruiters, instead of the top three. This way it's proportional to how many recruiters we have in a given month. Thoughts?

Additionally, I want to hear from all of you. How can we make the program better? What can we do that will make you recruit more/be more interested, or to get new people involved? I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Note: Prizes/perks can't include real money or things with real cash value, per NationStates rules.

Opening the 21st Council of the Republic
Posted by: Paleocacher - 09-13-2022, 03:53 AM - Forum: Council of the Republic - No Replies

Opening the 21st Council of the Republic
Office of the Consulate

Greetings, citizens of The League and Concord,

It is our pleasure in the Office of the Consulate to welcome you to the ranks of our regional legislature and advisory body. The Council will officially enter its 21st full term with the conclusion of the September Electoral Confirmation, and we are extremely optimistic about this cycle. This Council will have a whopping 19 members, a record amount, and showcases much diversity in our community. In addition to having many continuing and returning members, we have 9 incoming Council Delegates who have never served before - nearly half of the overall group. Furthermore, a solid 6 members are new players and natives of Concord, showcasing the success of that region as an addition to our overall community.

Due to the success of our regional recruitment program and other integration efforts, we hope to see the region continue to grow and develop throughout the next few months. Many of you are or will become involved in other aspects of regional life and leadership beyond your roles as Council Delegate, and we hope this experience allows you to have your voice heard and to help guide the region to be a home and community we can all enjoy. These regions regularly exceed our own expectations, and there is always more work we can do to make it better and to bring new members here.

This term will be a slightly experimental one, as it is our first with this new forum. It may take some time to decide precisely how the Council will function in relation to it, and what will be changed or stay the same. We already had a general discussion to this effect with the outgoing members on Discord, but how things proceed on a more day-to-day and specific level will be worked out as we go. It is also plausible that the Speaker may have a more direct role in scheduling and moving business to next steps in the process throughout this term, another thing we will evaluate as we go.

As for the Speakership, we have decided to appoint @Salisford for another term. Despite a time of absence, he has been a bedrock member of this community since 2016. We look forward to continuing to work with him and hope that his contributions as Speaker this term set an example for the next Speaker to follow, especially given the varied nature of this term as opposed to previous ones.

So, with that, welcome to the 21st Council of the Republic. The Speaker has been invited to post a thread with an address on their thoughts and interests for the term and will do so in the near future. Once the electoral confirmation process is complete, we will begin official business.

  Regional Propaganda Thread
Posted by: Moorland - 09-13-2022, 02:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Citizens of The League and Concord,
This thread has been created to allow members of either region, be they veteran members or new, to share their propaganda artworks for the enjoyment of us all. Not only do both our regions continue to grow and prosper, but so too do they continue to defend the freedoms of others both diplomatically and militarily; these accomplishments deserve to be recognised.

The suggested rules of conduct for this thread are as follows:
  • Do be nice to the people who choose to share their hard work here; not all of us are undergrads in graphic design.
  • Do host your content on third-party services such as Imgur. This reduces the stress on this website, and ensures your hard work won't be lost if the forums move.
  • Do feel free to post propaganda content that is specific to your region, and does not address the region as a whole.
  • Do feel free to post propaganda content that is not military in nature; an example of this would be a poster for a healthcare campaign.
  • Do not make explicit references to real-world events or groups in your artwork. If you choose to use existing propaganda pieces as the basis for your own, remove any real-world references.
  • Do not go out of your way to use this thread as a means of stirring drama with other regions or nations; referencing in-game events is just fine, being toxic is not.
  • Do not post work-in-progress content here, that is better suited for our Discord.
We look forward to seeing your creations!

I'll start this thread off by showcasing the propaganda poster I created following the liberation of the region "New Mandalore" from raider-occupiers:

On the left hand side of the "V" can be found the flags of Concord's Regional Officers, followed by the flags of the ROs of The League on the Right, capped-off with the respective flags of both regions.

The original artwork's creator is unknown, all that is known is that it was published by Britain's Ministry of Information during the Second World War. To find a high quality scan I utilised the service De-Zoomify to download the high quality scan available from Google Arts & Culture, and performed the necessary edits in Photoshop.

  Community Staff & Guidelines
Posted by: Quebecshire - 09-13-2022, 01:40 AM - Forum: Administrative Bureau - No Replies

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Conduct Expectations and Moderation Procedures

These standards apply to any properties managed by The League & Concord and its out-of-character staff.

Part One: Staff

Administrators make the rules and conduct expectations and appoint and dismiss moderators to enforce them. Administrators also fund (if applicable) and maintain off-site properties such as the Discord server, forum, and wiki.

Community Administrators

Moderators enforce the rules and expectations defined by Administrators and may assist them in making other decisions. All Administrators are also Moderators.

Discord Server Moderators

Part Two: Community Rules and Conduct

Rules are enforced at the full discretion of Moderators under the purview of Administrators. Staff actions are definite unless overruled by an Administrator and should be respected, otherwise there is risk for further consequences. For further information on this relationship, see Part Three.

1. Do not be disruptive or antagonistic to the community or other users. This includes but is not limited to flaming, flamebaiting, and harassment. Treat others with respect on an inter-personal level.

2. Bigoted, discriminatory, and/or hateful content is disallowed. This includes but is not limited to content that discriminates on the basis of race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, and physical or mental ability.

3. Endorsement or glorification of fascism, neo-confederate views/behavior, and political violence are strictly prohibited.

4. Members may not link to or provide any venues to obtain illegal or pirated content.

5. Not-Safe-For-Work content is strictly prohibited. The community should be generally understood to have a rating equivalent to "PG-13".

6. Do not spam except in designated areas.

7. Doxxing or revealing personal information of other users is strictly prohibited.

Punishments for violating the above rules are handed out on a case by case basis by the present Moderator(s). Further action may be taken by Administrators based on the rule violated and the severity of the violation.

Part Three: Appeals and Staff Conduct

If you wish to appeal an action taken against you by a Moderator on the basis that it was unwarranted, contact an Administrator of your choosing explaining (in fair terms) the nature of the alleged violation and why you believe the staff response was unwarranted. After this, Administrators will evaluate it separately from the Moderators. Please follow this process, as arguing in the moment with staff is likely to harm any appeal effort, if not further your immediate consequences.

If you wish to request review and re-evaluation of an Administrative action against you (example: a user was banned for X violation but believes that time has passed and their behavior has sufficiently changed), contact an Administrator of your choosing explaining your understanding of the behavior that led to the removal, why those issues will not be repeated, and any further information you may wish to add.

If you wish to report alleged misconduct by a Moderator, contact an Administrator of your choosing detailing your concern. If you wish to report alleged misconduct by an Administrator, contact the Founder and root administrator of the Discord, Quebecshire, detailing your concern. Moderators and Administrators will not be involved in deliberations regarding their own alleged behavior.

Suggestions for these Community Guidelines may be made to Administrators.

Executive Overview Thread

This thread contains an overview of the executive government positions in The League and Concord. It does not cover every position in existence, rather those which are legally mandated or are high-level management. If you have questions, you can ask any of the Consuls of the Republic.

The Consulate of the Republic is the body that includes the regional heads of state. It organizes the government, as well as hosts regional appointments and nominations/elections. Each member has little individual power, but as a unit the institution manages regional affairs and development quite regularly. The Chief Consul acts as the figurehead of this body Below are the three Consuls:

The Director of Foreign Affairs oversees the Department of Foreign Affairs, which manages relationships with our foreign partners. The Director also manages staffing and organization within the department, and is listed below:

The Director of Culture manages the Department of Culture, which has flexible responsibilities for regional cultural enhancement. They organize events, games, and other activities, as well as help host events with our foreign partners on occasion. The Director is listed below:

The General of the Defense Forces is the highest ranking officer in the regional military, which protects our regions, our allies, and other innocent regions across NationStates. More information can be found at this thread and the General is listed below:

The World Assembly Delegates represent The League and Concord in the World Assembly. They are tasked with endorsing all WA members to accumulate endorsements (ensuring regional security), as well as voting according to our regional positions. At times they will also be asked to appoint gameside officers with their executive permissions. Each region has one WA Delegate, listed below.

The Executive Advisors hold no particular responsibilities through this role, but are appointed to be in government areas for the purpose of helping make decisions and providing input. There are currently two executive advisors, listed below.

If you have any questions about this list, or any of your officials, please be sure to contact a Consul!

  Tug of War
Posted by: Quebecshire - 09-12-2022, 07:17 PM - Forum: Spam Games - Replies (210)

Another fairly simple counting game, this one is "tug of war". The number starts at 100, and you can decide to count up or down, the winning numbers being 0 or 200. You can't post twice in a row but can post as much as you want as long as someone posts in between. Have fun!

Count to 50 without a Consul posting
Posted by: Quebecshire - 09-12-2022, 07:16 PM - Forum: Spam Games - Replies (190)

This is a pretty simple spam game. Each post is someone adding to a count, where the goal is to count to 50. The only rule is that you cannot post twice in a row, so person X can post, but cannot post again until at least one more person posts.

Once you count to 50, the game is won! The catch? If a Consul posts, the count goes back to 0. Have fun!
