New Recruit Information
1. Get settled!
Now that you're in the military you have access to the #eagle-militia channel, where we will ping you for operations. In the pins of this channel there is the link to a server, "Libcord" (the liberation server). Please join that server and identify yourself, as most operations occur there.
Once you complete your first operation, you will be granted an official rank and access to #ldf-updates and #ldf-chat. You will also be able to progress your rank over time.
2. Prepare for operations!
The most essential task to prepare for operations will be to create some puppets, also known as "switchers". These are nations you will use to conduct operations. They should all share the same e-mail for convenience. I recommend creating 5-10 initially, the more regular/extensive you want to be involved, the more you should make.
- Create your nations (nation creation page).
- Move these nations to our base of operations/"jump point", Artificial Solar System.
- (Optional) Customize your nations. You can find the LDF flag here, which you can use and modify for your own version if you like.
- Post in #eagle-militia that you have completed this so we're aware!
Tips to make nation creation quicker: You can skip the ideology questions/quiz, and make the nations a numbered series if you like (ex. Quebecshire 1, Quebecshire 2, etc).
3. Check out some more, and ask questions!
Training and support will be provided to members as needed. However, if you would like to get a head start, consider reading our guides on our main types of operations, linked below. Remember, do not hesitate to ask officers or fellow members any questions! We're here to help and we want you to have fun.

The League's Defense Forces (LDF) is a defender military on NationStates (the military of The League & Concord) dedicated to the stability and protection of all regions, especially small, founderless, and vulnerable user-created regions. We believe all regions in good standing deserve the right to exist without invader interference. If this sounds appealing to you and you would like to join us in protecting regions across NationStates, apply below to join the LDF! Further information on the LDF itself can be found at this thread.
The LDF follows what is known as a "One-Org Policy" meaning that applicants nor current members are allowed to be a part of another military organization while simultaneously being a member of the LDF. If you are currently a member of another military organization, you will have to resign to join the LDF or your application will be rejected. Failure to disclose other memberships when applying is grounds for removal.
Apply to the LDF by filling out the application form below. If you are interested in applying to the LDF and are not a citizen, please complete that application first, it can be done at this thread.
Nation Name:
Discord (Name#1234):
Current nation in the World Assembly (if any):
Do you have any previous raiding/defending experience? Please include any past or current military gameplay organizations if applicable. No experience is fine if that is the case.
How often are you available at the game's updates? (12AM and 12PM EST):
I, [EDIT YOUR NAME INTO HERE], do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend The League and Concord as well as their interests against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I pledge to act in defense of the Consulate, Council, and Constitution of the Republic and to obey all conduct expectations set out for me, and to set an example for those I serve with.
Upon completing the application, an officer will contact you via Discord as promptly as possible. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

TRA Roleplay Entry & "Ghost Nations" |

There are Ghost Nations Among Us
There's been a trend as more people look to join the TRA roleplay, and not a good one. More RPers as of late seem to remain trapped in a purgatory where they haven't completed the necessary wiki to be added to the official map, and wind up quitting or going inactive instead. Since these are newcomers and may not be familiar with wiki conventions like page categorization, and often wind up departing, we wind up with "Ghost Nations".
Ghost nations are nations that do not appear on the map, have pages that are difficult to find, and are often abandoned/unmaintained.
To me, this poses a few problems, but the primary one is that it's time consuming to clean up when someone leaves: Recently there was an RPer who joined TRA and switched nations multiple times, they never cleaned up the pages that they had discarded in switching nations, and one of these nations was integrated into a bunch of the statistics pages and the 2022 Winter Olympics pages. All of these multination pages required manual edits to clean up. Some of that is inevitable, but one of the more time consuming aspects of cleaning up these nations is not knowing if the RPer is still in the process of joining the RP, or has given up on the nation.*
I also think that having uncategorized pages might contribute to the onboarding issue- An important part of our wiki is that, when we find grammar, spelling, and Manual Of Style (MOS) mistakes, we can either correct them (when doing so does not change the spirit/point of the article), or bring it up on Discord to help getting the pages to convey what the authors want to other RP members.
*On a more historical note, it can be incredibly difficult to clean up the aftermath of an RPer leaving. There are still numerous people who left the region almost two years ago who have RP content we have struggled to remove.
What's a Solution Here?
Maybe the pages of new RPers should have its own category for faster reference, as well as to keep everything more organized. This category would be for nations that have not been added yet to the TRA map, and would be subsequently be removed on the fufilling of the wiki requirements.
For the statistics pages, it would be nice if we could simply scrape that information off of nation pages to automate updates there, which could make pruning inactivity RPers easier. I already have something of a solution for that involving the MediaWiki web API, but it's very much a work in progress at the moment, and even when completed would not be able to handle doing map updates for those pages.
But those are just my rambly thoughts, do you all agree, disagree, have other solutions/ideas?

Promotion of Colonel Raziel |

@Raz (The Castle of Dark Illusions), better known to most of the NationStates community as One Small Island, has been promoted to Colonel of the LDF effective immediately. Having joined the LDF in March 2022, Raziel has proven to be an effective and capable updater. One of the first members of the LDF to complete Lieutenant training following the introduction of that rank, they have over time stepped up as a strong defender leader in critical operations with triggering, outreach, and coordination, earning their way to Libcord's Junior Command.
Their leadership was pivotal to the LDF turnout and overall defender victory in New Westphalia, notably at the minor update siege when they filled a strong role for outreach to Leaguers and Concordians. Having been an officer in our military for more than 6 months with tactful leadership and skillful updating, they've well earned the title of Colonel.
As it becomes clearer that The League's Defense Forces has reached a level of experience and strength be a defender power, it is necessary to recognize and staff our officer corps properly to encourage the continuation of growth. We have several reforms and initiatives being discussed behind the scenes that we look forward to the development of, and Raziel's heightened experience and rank will undoubedly aid those efforts.

General New Makasta

Game is pretty self-explanatory. Something good happens to you like you win the lottery or you get laser eyes but there’s a catch. Let’s say you win the lottery but your closest friend dies. You reply to the AU saying if you will press the button or not, then make up your own scenario.
Lets begin:
If you press this button, you will become a superhuman, however, you will lose your free Will
*Note: DON'T RUIN THIS 0CALA!

Domestic Security Bureau Information
The Domestic Security Bureau (DSB) is an institution established by the Office of the Consulate with the purpose of overseeing and coordinating internal security and stability measures for The League and Concord. This includes but is not necessarily limited to ensuring the stability of the appointed holder of the World Assembly Delegacies, ensuring healthy endorsement levels, and promoting security in Concord in anticipation of its needs during/after the eventual Frontiers and Strongholds updates, seen through the establishment of the Vice-Delegate position.
This thread is the proper venue to lodge public questions, concerns, or suggestions to the DSB. It is composed of the Consulate, WA Delegates, and the Vice-Delegates in Concord. These individuals are listed below.
