  Military Rank Structure
Posted by: Icaris - 01-31-2023, 07:46 PM - Forum: Applications and Onboarding - No Replies

The League Defense Forces Rank Structure
The League Defense Forces ranks are designed to create a strong leadership structure for operation management and execution while also providing an incentive for activity among its members.

The forces are divided between officer and enlisted ranks. The enlisted are primarily responsible for participating in operations and training. They are the backbone of the LDF’s consistent and dominant participation in operations.

The officers also participate in operations and training but take on the leadership role of the force. They are responsible for the internal organization of the force, collaborate for improvement of the force, and mot importantly, plan and execute operations. If an operation takes place, it’s been spearheaded by an officer.

Enlisted Ranks:

Minutemen: The Minutemen are the initial rank of the LDF upon enlistment. The name derives from the League’s history and lore, providing a foundation for the LDF. Minutemen are charged with continual learning, active participation, and immersing themselves in the culture and conduct of the LDF. As their name suggests, they are to be ready to mobilize at a minute’s notice, providing crucial support in operations as they begin their journey in the LDF.

Cannoneers: Cannoneers are the second rank in the enlisted force structure. Cannoneers attain their rank after completing 15 updates and prove their ability to operate in arena and competently carry out orders of the officer above them. Achieving the rank of Cannoneer is an important step in the career of an LDF member. The individual has taken their enlistment seriously and have shown consistent investment in military gameplay. They have proven their reliability and have made it past the initial stepping stone.

Flagbearers: Flagbearers are the senior most enlisted rank in the LDF. Individuals attain the rank of Flagbearer by attending 40 updates and haven proven their ability to operate at the higher level. They are charged with providing the crucial foundation of personnel needed to pull off an operation. They have demonstrated their reliability and are often looked to by the officers to assist in operations or are given opportunities to prove themselves at a higher level. The Flagbearer rank is a sign of dedication and are thus carrying the flag of which upholds the values of the cause.

Officer Ranks:

Lieutenant: The Lieutenant rank is the first of the officer ranks. An individual attains their rank by being selected for the officer training program by higher ranking officers. Typically Lieutenants are chosen from the Cannoneer rank at a minimum but more often Flagbearer, depending on the circumstances and what the individual has demonstrated. These individuals have shown they can consistently update, be a reliable and competent military member, but also show promise in their organizational and leadership skills. Lieutenants are charged with learning what goes into planning and executing operations as well as learning how to run and make decisions internally for the LDF.

Colonel: The Colonel rank is the second of the officer ranks. Colonels have proven themselves as competent organizers and leaders of the LDF as well as represented the LDF well in joint operations, for example, in Libcord. The Colonel rank is among the officer leadership team and is typically given more hefty responsibilities in both the internal administration of the LDF but primarily in leading operations.

General: The General rank is the highest among the officer ranks. Individuals attain the General rank upon proving their undeniable central leadership of the LDF as well as being a crucial pillar in the joint operations communities. Generals have the responsibility of planning and leading operations and are expected to perform at a much higher level, often making decisions or participating in collaboration on decisions intended for the entire joint operations community. The General rank is rare as it is the central figure of the LDF.

Consul: When applicable, a Consul role serves as the commander-in-chief of The League Defense Forces and a representative of the heads of state. While important and often ideal, it is not required for a Consul to be within the military structure.

Hello members of our community,

We have appointed to individuals to our moderation team on Discord - @ Council of Feathers (aka Neo) and @CHSStormTracker (aka Kivu). Neo is a much older (in community terms) member and has always exercised good judgement and professionalism. Kivu, while newer, has been an active presence that exhibits good judgement on acceptance conduct, helping integrate new members, and other forms of management.

Questions or concerns can be directed to this thread or an administrator. The Community Guidelines thread will be updated with this information later today.

  Unbanning Gagium
Posted by: Quebecshire - 01-21-2023, 03:18 PM - Forum: Administrative Bureau - No Replies

Hello,

As many are aware, the region went through a lot of OOC cultural shifts in 2020-21. This was mainly to steer away from/prohibit edgy or otherwise problematic content that we had allowed to become prominent in our off-site platforms. In forcing these cultural shifts, the community experienced a lot of growing pains due to various individuals resisting and attempting to obstruct this progress, resulting in a number of bans and people leaving in anger around the time.

A number of the individuals in that group have, per admin internal agreement, been subjected to a permanent ban. Whether or not this is the case for someone is dependent on the extent and nature of their behavior at the time, and other relevant history. We don't divulge this status (or lack thereof) in public or on third-party request except to other admin teams, but we do to the individuals in question if they ask. For anyone not permanently banned, their ban can be overturned by a unanimous agreement of Community Administrators in consultation with Server Moderators.

Gagium was banned from the Discord and soon after on-site in April 2021 for antagonizing the moderators and breaking server rules regarding problematic language in relation/protest to a previous administrative ban. Nearly two years later, he recently appealed his ban in accordance with the processes outlined in the Community Standards, specifically the appeal subset "review and re-evaluation of an Administrative action against [the party] (example: a user was banned for X violation but believes that time has passed and their behavior has sufficiently changed)".

Upon recieving this appeal, we began internal discussion among staff regarding the reasoning for his ban, time passed, ongoing associations (or lack thereof, including moderation practices other communities Gagium is present in), and other relevant factors. It is our opinion an that,

  • His behavior, while problematic, has since been remedied and was not behavior that would pose a community safety risk, which is why he is being considered for a second chance at all. The behavior that causes the ban remains entirely unacceptable and would result in a ban if done today by another individual.
  • The behavior in question took place at a young age that he seems to have matured past.
  • Gagium has been in contact with an administrator semi-regularly for ~8 months and displayed an improved understanding of the necessity of good moderation practices and the flaws in his prior behavior, both in terms of problematic language and protesting/conduct regarding moderation decisions.

Having done our due diligence to an extent we view as sufficient, the Community Administrators have decided to rescind Gagium's ban from our platforms

This decision comes with a number of conditions and will set forth the structure of admin procedure for apppeals, with room for deviation per admin discretion, though we are clarifying it for posterity's sake.

  • If we find out Gagium has been dishonest regarding the appeals process, the ban will be permanently reinstated.
  • If Gagium repeats any of the behavior regarding problematic language that led to his ban, the ban will be permanetly reinstated. If he repeats any of the behavior regarding disagreement with moderation decisions that led to his ban, he will be given a single warning. If he continues in that instance or another, the ban will be permanently reinstated.
  • If we find out Gagium has continued the behavior regarding problematic language that led to his ban in other communities, the ban will be permanently reinstated.
  • Gagium will be on probationary status for moderation/administrative action for the forseeable future for any other offenses, and will be expected to re-integrate and conduct himself in the community as it is today in a respectable manner.

As with any other admin procedure, Community Adminstrators maintain discretion to alter or revisit any policy/decision. If you have questions or concerns, please consider whether they are of a publicly-appropriate nature, and either post them in this thread or contact a Community Administrator directly.
